Hermosa Festival: Juego de Antes

Timeless recreation came alive once again at the Juego de Antes! An initiative spearheaded by our City Mayor Capt. Khymer Adan T. Olaso, M.M., the Juego de Antes brought back the enduring fun and playful spirit of the games of old. In a generation heavily saturated by technology and digital entertainment, this event offered a refreshing escape; a nostalgic return to the simple, joyful activities that once filled the streets, fields, and childhood memories of many Zamboangueños.

As part of the Zamboanga Hermosa Festival, the Juego de Antes added a heartfelt and meaningful twist to the celebration. Participants of all ages eagerly took to the playing field, reviving timeless classics such as tumbahan lata, carrera de sacos, carrera de carabao , and many other traditional Filipino games that have stood the test of time.

Mayor Olaso’s initiative breathed new life into these cultural treasures, ensuring that future generations understand and appreciate the joy found in these simple yet enjoyable games. The success of the Juego de Antes reaffirmed Zamboanga City’s commitment to nurturing traditions and strengthening community bonds.
