Badju Fashion Show and Competition

The City Government of Zamboanga, under the leadership of our Honorable Mayor Captain Khymer Adan T. Olaso, continues to champion the preservation and promotion of our rich cultural heritage. With every celebration, the city reinforces its commitment to honoring the traditions, artistry, and stories that define the diverse communities of Zamboanga.

“Badju,” an umbrella term for dress, stands as a vibrant symbol of identity, creativity, and cultural pride. Celebrated annually during the Zamboanga Hermosa Festival, the Badju competition has become a cherished tradition that showcases the exquisite craftsmanship and deep-rooted heritage of our Indigenous peoples. Each year, the event shines a well-deserved spotlight on a different Indigenous group, allowing the public to appreciate the beauty and meaning behind their traditional garments.
Through events like Badju, Zamboanga continues to celebrate creativity, fashion, and the very soul of its people. It is a tribute to the city’s commitment to preserving its multi-faceted culrural identity; a proud affirmation of its place as a melting pot of cultures in Mindanao.
