FELIZ NAVIDAD CIUDAD DE ZAMBOANGA

This year’s Festival Navidad drew barangays from far and wide, and among the participants was the wild-card entry, Barangay Cabaluay. Making their debut in the competition, Barangay Cabaluay spared no effort in presenting a captivating Christmas Village. The village came to life with actors vividly portraying various aspects of typical barrio life. From young men serenading their love interests to mariteses sharing the latest gossip while doing laundry, and barangay leaders looking sharp in their barong tagalog, the festival truly captured the essence of a vibrant barrio celebration.

The Christmas Village also highlighted the inclusivity that Zamboanga is proud of, showcasing both a mosque and a church showcasing Zamboanga City’s multi-cultural identity.

Under the leadership of Mayor John M. Dalipe, the City Government of Zamboanga initiated the Festival Navidad: Christmas Village Competition. A total of 20 diverse organizations enthusiastically participated, each aiming to showcase the vibrant Christmas spirit within their respective communities. This event serves as a platform to promote unity and solidarity among the various neighborhoods in Zamboanga City, encouraging them to collaborate and create a collective Christmas ensemble that reflects the city’s rich diversity and festive traditions.
